Staff Absence Report

Written by Schools IS Team

We have created a new staff Absence report has been and due to its success in 2 schools are now making it available for supported schools upon request.  The purpose of the report is to display the total days of absences accumulated by staff as well as the numbers of instances.  A secondary tab also displays the details of those absences and breaks down the details for analysis.  This report was originally requested by a school and its content shared prompting more schools to request it.  If you would like this report please contact the Schools' IS Team on 0203 045 5700

Spring Pupil Census 2012

Written by Schools IS Team

As I’m sure you know, Census Day is coming!  A summary of what has changed compared with previous year is displayed below:

  • Census Day is the 19/01/2012
  • Attendance code Y will be included in the collection of attendance information for Autumn Term 2011.
  • Funded Hours on Census Day will be collected for 2, 3 and 4 year olds as well as Hours at Setting.
  • Collection of Admission Appeals will be extended to include Academies, but the DfE only expects to receive this information from Academies where those Academies were previously Voluntary Aided or Foundation Schools.
  • Attendance code D will NOT be included in the collection of attendance information for Autumn Term 2011 and will not be counted in the Sessions Possible.

As ever for the Spring Census, this will be a point in time Census. The time period that your School will report on is determined by the last digit of your School’s DFE number:

SIMS Discover

SIMS Discover is a powerful tool that helps you to see into your data.  Click the link to see a demonstration video here which gives a great insight of what SIMS can do for you.

The product represents the long term replacement for Performance Analysis (PA) – it combines the assessment data with core details about the child, behaviour and attendance details, making a very powerful and interactive application for data analysis. SIMS Discover (as an upgrade for PA) is included as part of the local authority’s annual entitlement.

New and Updated Functionality in FMS 6.142

This release includes a large amount of new functionality which is detailed within this Release Note. As a consequence, the upgrade may take longer than previous upgrades.

New User Interface

A new user interface was introduced into the FMS Summer 2011 Release (6.140). As you may not have upgraded to that version, this may be the first time that you will have seen the new User Interface. It has been initially applied to FMS excluding Account Receivable and Equipment Register. In summary the changes are:

FMS Academy Users Group

Written by Schools IS Team

I would like to thank all the schools that attended the FMS Academy User Group meeting on 18th October 2011. There was lots of information to digest and some exciting developments planned for the future. Capita gave a very good presentation outlining what has formed some of the changes in FMS as well as the way forward for the product and its commitment to academies. The additional functionality looks really useful and extremely relevant to academies. Please click here to download the slides from the event.
