Welcome back to the new academic year. I imagine the first thing on most of your minds is did our SIMS .net promotion work? If you need any assistance or have any questions then please don't hesitate to ask. I have spoken to many schools over the summer break so I'm sure your all prepared and will have a successful promotion. You ll find on our website articles on SIMS Discover, the new analysis tool. SIMS .net Discover is due for release this autumn and some additional features from the Beta testing in Spring 2011. The idea behind SIMS .net Discover is that it should be as intuitive as an iPhone. I'm also please to promote the web based tool 'IMPROVE'. IMPROVE allows you to identify how a schools data is being recorded when useing the schools Management Information System. IMPROVE is completely free and compliant with all MIS systems. In January 2011 schools will need set the VAT rate to 20%. There is documentation on our site regarding the change to 17.5 % from 15%. We will further update our documentation to add an additional VAT rate of 20%.
I wish you all the best for the new academic year. Should you have any questions at all then please feel free to log a call on the help desk or call us on 020 88368200
Thank you

Dear Colleagues
The document available here is a brief outline of the SIMS Discover product you may have heard about at BETT 2010
The product represents the long term replacement for Performance Analysis (PA) – it combines the assessment data with core details about the child, behaviour and attendance details, making a very powerful and interactive application for data analysis. SIMS Discover (as an upgrade for PA) is included as part of the local authority’s annual entitlement.

Combating Bullying
The Schools IS support team and Bexley Behaviour federation have just recently completed three seminars to schools to discuss Bexley’s Strategy for Combating Bullying & Discriminatory Behaviours. The seminars outlined what Bexley’s strategy is as well as informing schools on what the strategy includes. Schools were made aware of the assistance available to them through various means by the Head of Partnership and Training Services Alison Ballantyne.
The Schools IS teams task was to successfully communicate to schools the ability of SIMS .net to record, monitor & report bullying and discriminatory behaviours in schools as well as demonstrate the functionality available in the SIMS .net system. The Seminars were well received and I believe that the schools will benefit from this kind of collaboration.
Approximately 63 school staff attended from 44 schools in the borough. For further information on Bexley Strategy For Combating & Discriminatory Behaviours please click here. If you require any further information regarding the recording, monitoring and reporting on behaviour incidents please contact the Schools' IS Team via our web based help desk or on 0208 836 8200
