Travel Plan

Written by Schools IS Team

You may be aware that your school currently carries out two mode of travel surveys:

1) Information collection re. mode of travel to include in the January Census (PLASC / MIS)

2) An annual hands up survey for your school travel plan (carried out usually by your school’s travel plan coordinator)

In order to reduce this duplication of work a report which will enable the production of class mode of travel survey sheets in SIMS is now available. The survey sheets will have some information already populated, including pupils name, postcodes and mode of travel from SIMS, but it will also contain an additional column for recording ‘preferred mode of travel’. Teachers will be required to ask pupils the two main questions– ‘how do you usually travel to school’ and ‘how would you prefer to travel to school’.

This survey will need to take place before December, in order to feed into the January Census and so that survey results are available for inclusion in the schools travel plan review / rewrite.

i) The SIMS .net report can be obtained by clicking here.

ii) Instructions are also available on how to import the report by clicking here.
